Shooting Water. Digging Through Piles of Shot Material.

I managed to cut my latest video about how to shoot flowing water explaining usage of filters to achieve slow shutters speeds during a day. Took me a while because I was quite tight on time with many assignments. Different footage keeps piling and awaits its turn in the queue.

Höllental
Every time I go for a shoot I try also to take some video footage, which is sort of a burden especially when it comes to carrying equipment but on the other hand it opens up so many new opportunities starting with simply documenting sessions and ending with long time DVD project.

Besides documenting landscapes sessions, trips I also film action during concerts I shoot, having in mind different documentary about concert photography. Here I have to overcome different problems starting with extremely low light and horrible sound quality when recorded by camera microphone. I am contacting bands asking if I can use original well recorded sound tracks, so it will take some time. Here's short sequence out of already something like 20 hours of footage taken at different stages and different concerts. Final version most probably look different and way better!

Talking about sound tracks, I am looking around to get "my own" music for future films. Of course I am not planning to write my music, as I am useless in this, but need somebody to write something moddy and rocky for my. Write and record of course. And suggestions are welcome.

Steve Lukather (TOTO) with me after the Interview in Graz

Easy in Bratislava
Last week I had to be in two places at the same time, almost. Two different assignments - and both important.

Started in Graz Orpheum stage, where we filmed interview for GuitarMania with Steve Lukather of TOTO. I am cutting the video as we speak...

...then had to quickly relocate to Bratislava where I was shooting Easy show. Came back home dead tired with over 500 kilometers done in day but at the same time happy with the footage.

You have to imagine how much time you have to spend afterwards to go through video and picture files. I recently bought another 2TB disk and this one already almost full. I have to become more restrictive in pictures selection what to keep. So far I have been quite conservative and kept a lot  just in case. The biggest problems are video files, size of 30 minutes footage multiplied by 4 cameras is simple breathtaking. I think once I cut videos to final version, I have to be deleting original files. Sooner or later I will have to make that decision.

On the occasion of Easy gig, and also something I had in mind already for a long time... I got new lens 8-15mm fisheye. There were so many occasions I was missing it, where 16mm was not wide enough plus I was after this fisheye effect. I could have cheated by adding barrel distorsion in post production, but that is not the same.

Mojo Blues Band playing at Jazzland
Few days later I had occasion to use it again in Jazzland while shooting Mojo Blues Band, and I must say the lens worked the charm. And again after two day of Jazzland shooting I came back with tons of material to process. I will get to it this coming week.
Before that I have to prepare for tonights interview and shooting of Eric Sardinas... so more material is going to come :)
