Covering International Music Summit |
I knew May and June would be crazy but in my wildest dreams I would not have come up with this idea... and especially in that period.
Despite having contracted events for end of May and beginning of June I managed to squeeze in over two weeks job for Burn Studio Residency finals at Ibiza, Spain.
Together we fellow photographer we had to cover whole event in terms of stills, while other team had to film the lot. I think planned release of video footage is July 25th. I am really looking forward to see final film.
There were 18 finalists of DJs competition "Burn Studio Residency" (out of 500), and 3 of them won season residency at local Ibiza clubs - Mambo, Sankeys, and Privilege.
Finalists came from all over the place including Japan, and Brasil! So very international atmosphere we had there and tons of fun besides really hard work, sometimes in very hot and conditions.
Shooting Fatboy Slim during International Music Summit Dalt Villa, Ibiza, Spain |
Twice I had to fly in Vienna for one day every time to fullfil my obligations at home ground...

...and despite I feel dead tired it was great job, and I happy with outcomes. Now I am learning normal life again :-) ... shooting events, where you cannot really party yourself, till 2-4 a.m. for almost two weeks can really change your biological clock and you can feel like jet lagged upon return.
Thanks god there were two of us photographers, and Dave could cover morning production team meetings while I was trying to catch up with some sleep.
Leaving masterclass room after session with Avicci |
Then came daily routines of copying pictures to disks, making sure all was backed-up as well. If you shoot hundreds of pictures every day, copying and selection process can be quite time consuming. In the end everything worked fine. All in all good few thousands of pictures have been taken, and disks passed onto the client.
Besides clubs' shooting we also took some products photos, hope to see some more of my work published at one stage. Here's one we shot the other day after sunset...
Burn Studio Residency, Ibiza, Spain |
Well, this chapter is over, for the time being at least, time to get ready for workshops and coming rock festivals here in Austria - Novarock next coming weekend, and following weekend - Seerock festival by Graz, and in between I have few other smaller items coming.
Things are moving in good direction, what else can be better for photographer than having fully booked calendar for coming months. I only hope I will finally have more time to catch up with the blog.
I know, I keep saying that, and odds are against me. Will try nevertheless.
Cheers
JB
